The volume of trade in seeds between China and Romania in 2006 could exceed two billion dollars, of which 250 to 300 million could be covered by exports of Romania. This was stated by Radu Zaharia, head of the Directorate General for Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) under the Romania-China forum.
During the period from January to June, there have been trade worth 995.1 million dollars, the share of exports to Romania was 102.5 million. The representative of the Ministry of Commerce of China in Bucharest together with a delegation of 11 representatives and 22 businessmen said that the Chinese authorities are interested in diversifying the range of seed products marketed with Romania, making the country a important element in promoting China's relations with Europe.
The highlight of the forum was the signing of seven agreements cooperation between Romania and Chinese companies. the total value of these contracts was $ 80 million, of which 53 contracts are actually signed, the rest covered by letters of intent and preliminary bilateral agreements. Contracts will also focus on the supply of steel, chemicals, cells and, of course, the seed .
